Campaign idea

Onboarding kits that read as one thing

The difference between a good welcome kit and four unrelated branded objects is coherence: one decoration treatment, one palette, and items someone will still be using in March.

Where to start
One hero garment plus two everyday items
What holds it together
One decoration treatment across the whole kit
What MerchMaker adds
Every item decorated and shown together before it is ordered

When it works

A kit is judged on the first day and on the ninetieth

On day one the kit is a signal about how the company treats people. Ninety days later it is judged on whether any of it is still in use. Buying for both means one item that carries identity and two that earn their desk space by being genuinely useful.

  • New-hire welcome programs and culture launches
  • Remote-first teams, where the kit is the whole first-day experience
  • Rebrands, where consistency across the kit is the entire point

What to include

One item for identity, two for everyday use

Apparel carries the identity: it is the piece that says who the person now works for. Drinkware and desk items do the durable work, because they stay in view. Resist the urge to add a fourth item — a kit gets weaker, not stronger, past three.

  • A garment for identity, in a fit people will actually wear
  • Drinkware and a desk item for the everyday half
  • Skip novelty items that will not survive the first clear-out

How to present it

Show the kit, not the products

A buyer approving an onboarding kit is approving a coordinated impression, which is very hard to judge from three separate supplier photos. Presenting every item decorated with the same mark, in the same collection, is what makes the coherence visible before anything is ordered.

  • One collection link showing all the items decorated together
  • The same mark treatment on each piece, in the same colorway family
  • A standard and a premium version if stakeholder budgets differ

Questions

How many items belong in a welcome kit?

Three usually. One garment for identity and two everyday items. Past three the kit stops reading as one gesture and starts reading as a box of merch.

How do minimums work across a multi-item kit?

Each product carries its own supplier minimum, so a kit is several minimums rather than one. MerchMaker shows each and refuses an under-minimum line in the cart before payment.

Can I show the whole kit to the client at once?

Yes. A published collection is one link with every item decorated, and the buyer can react and comment on each piece individually.
